Liverpool etc. has teamed up with Mellowtone Records and The Viper Label to celebrate the launch of the site – and offer you the chance to own a slice of Scouse history.

Cult hero Edgar ‘Jones’ Jones re-releases the seminal ‘Soothing Music For Stray Cats’ on vinyl in April and you can get your hands on a signed copy thanks to Liverpool etc. The record, first released in 2005, caused a stir upon its arrival and was voted number one in NME’s recent ‘100 Greatest Albums You’ve Never Heard’ poll. We know, however, that everyone reading this has heard it and many agree with Noel Gallagher when he says: “It’s the best sounding record to come out of Liverpool ever… that’s a fact.”

‘Soothing Music For Stray Cats’ also placed in’s ’50 Greatest Liverpool Albums’ back in 2008 and its reputation has done nothing but grow since. With Jones back out in the fray leading The Stairs, it’s the perfect time to remind ourselves that nobody moves forward by looking back better than the former Big Kids and Isrites singer.
